November 2020 Update

HONKERS FROM UNGAVA PENINSULA, CANADA PILING IN

This year marks the second nesting season in a row as to the good to excellent production of migratory Canada Geese that nest on the Ungava Peninsula (eastern side of the Hudson Bay).  These up production years are showing as tens of thousands of migraters are showing up in Kent County on the Eastern Shore – and – as temperatures continue to fall in Quebec and upstate New York, a continuum of the migratory process is ensured.

CORN STRIPS, LARGE PASTURES, PONDS REFLECT UPSCALE HUNTING

At Wild Wings Maryland we offer limited access to our farms for migratory Canada Goose hunting.  To ensure our clients success, each year we add substantial upgrades in modifying our habitat to attract and hold the geese.  In the last year we have added serious pastures, dug additional wells for our ponds, strategically left rows of corn and in addition to cover crops have planted more grass stands.

RICHARDSON’S CANADA GEESE SHOWING UP

We are very fortunate in that we are one of the very few entities on the Atlantic Flyway that harvests the diminutive Richardson’s Canada Goose.  To our knowledge, there is only one pocket of these birds of the Cackling Canada Goose family on the Flyway, and we are within that pocket.  Do we harvest them every hunt, no, we do not, but when it happens it is certainly unique and special.

NEW POND SLATED FOR THE HESTER HANSON FARM

We have done the paperwork and will begin the construction of a new pond in the Spring of 2021 for the 2021/22 goose season.  This will be the second pond constructed on this farm and will include a broad pasture to complement the existing pond and four-acre pasture.

BRING THE FAMILY!

Booking the Main Lodge, an extremely nice environment for the whole family, we encourage you to bring all the family, there is no additional charge.  For the non-hunters, Chestertown is only a few miles away; there will be found a unique and special college town with excellent shops, restaurants, and historic buildings. (Home of Washington College established in 1782) Further, the rolling, beautiful, agricultural landscape of the Eastern Shore is a special treat.

WILD WINGS DUCK CLUB, NORTH CAROLINA

Wild Wings Duck Club adjacent to Mattamuskeet NWR in Hyde County, NC, is the premier migratory duck hunting venue on the Atlantic Flyway.  While the membership for the WWDC regular duck season is currently full, WWDC is instituting for the 2021 duck season the Wild Wings TEAL Club.  Fourteen Members only.  Inquire if you have an interest.

2020/21 MIGRATORY CANADA GOOSE SEASON

We are pumped for the opening of this year’s goose season.  The dates: Dec. 18 thru Jan. 2 and Jan. 13 thru Jan. 30.  At this time, we do have some openings left.  Email gwteal1@gmail.com Call 252 394-5171.  Our guides, Tommy Tucker and David McFarland are eastern shoremen and the best in the business!  Experience the rush of those honkers from far north Canada cupping their wings toward our decoys at Wild Wings Maryland!
